Convention
1. Does the cost of the ticket cover more than one night?
The date of the GerardButler.Net 2008 U.S. Charity Convention is April 5, 2008. However, we are planning many exciting activities and tours around the entire weekend. See the Tours and Events page for details.
2. Who can I contact if I have a question that is not answered in the FAQs?

3. Will there be a sit down dinner or buffet at the Travel the Timeline Dinner on Saturday night?
It is a sit down dinner.
4. How will seating be arranged at the Travel the Timeline Dinner?
You may choose a seat at any table. Preferential seating will be made available for individuals with disabilities and special convention guests.
5. Do we need to pay for our own drinks at the Travel the Timeline Dinner?
Yes, and the State of Virginia requires you to purchase "drink tickets" that are presented to the bartender. Drink tickets will be sold in advance.
6. How do I order my dinner entrée?
Approximately two months before the convention, we will e-mail you the dinner entrée options.
7. Will there be vegetarian options?
Yes, there will be a vegetarian option.
8. Is there a dress code?
The Travel the Timeline Dinner is semi-formal. We suggest a cocktail dress or a dressy pantsuit for the ladies and a suit and tie for gentlemen. For all other convention events, the dress code is casual wear.
9. Will there be music and dancing?
Yes. The Travel the Timeline Dinner will feature a DJ and dancing. We also will feature traditional Scottish music plus soundtracks from Gerry’s movies during the dinner.

Registration
1. How much do I need to pay to reserve a convention spot?
You need to pay a non-refundable $25 deposit to register for the convention. Please see the Purchase Tickets page for more info.
2. What does the convention fee cover?
The convention fee covers a gift bag, workshops on Saturday and a dinner Saturday night with videos, raffles, musical performances, a DJ and dancing.
3. How can I pay for my convention ticket?
You may pay your entire convention ticket ($125) or deposit ($25) through the PayPal links here. If you are not able to pay through Paypal, please contact us at: registration@dc2008.gerard-butler.net to make other payment arrangements.
4. Will you post a list of attendees on the 2008 GerardButler.Net U.S. Charity Convention site?
Yes. You can verify we have received your registration and PayPal payment.
5. I am on the waiting list. When should I pay my deposit?
If you are on the waiting list, you will not have to pay the $25 deposit until you are on the list of attendees. If you make it off the waiting list after October 1, 2007, you will need to pay the entire $125.
6. Is my deposit refundable?
No. If you cancel before February 1, 2008, you are entitled to a refund of up to $100 (the registration fee less the non-refundable $25 deposit).
7. What should I do if I need to cancel my convention registration?
If you need to cancel your convention registration, please contact us at: registration@dc2008.gerard-butler.net.
If you cancel before February 1, 2008, you are entitled to a refund of up to $100 (the registration fee less the non-refundable $25 deposit used to cover handling expenses). NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED ON OR AFTER FEBRUARY 1, 2008.
Please remember that if you have also put your name down and/or paid for any events around the convention, you will also need to inform the person organizing these events so that they may take your name off the list and provide a refund to you, if applicable. Please be aware that you can donate your refund total, in full or in part, to Kids Kicking Cancer. Your name will be put on a list of donors and given to the charity. If you cancel on or after February 1, you will automatically be issued a receipt for a tax deductible donation of your full ticket price to Kids Kicking Cancer.
8. Will I receive a confirmation of my registration? Will I receive a confirmation of my payment or deposit? You will receive an automated email once you have registered for the convention, and another once you have paid your deposit or full payment. Please review these for accuracy and print them for your records.
9. How do I get my convention registration materials?
The convention registration materials will be available on Friday and Saturday, April 4 and April 5, in the 12th Floor hospitality suite. You will need to bring a photo ID to obtain your registration materials. We will post signs in the lobby directing you to the suite.
10. My family is coming with me. Can they attend the convention, and are there any age restrictions?
Yes, your family may attend the convention for the full $125 (per person) convention registration fee. Please be advised each guest must be 12 years or older to attend the convention.
13. May I register for a group of my friends and me?
Yes, if you are registering for more than one person, you will need their information (name, address, email address, name for nametag) and will need to fill out a registration form for each person. If paying with PayPal, you will need to make their payments individually.

1. How many hotel rooms have been reserved for the convention guests?
We have reserved 100 rooms at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town Alexandria (formerly Radisson). We have also arranged limited rooms at the Holiday Inn and Suites located a few blocks from the Crowne Plaza. The same room rates apply to the Holiday Inn.

5. Can I share a room with others?
You may share your room with up to 3 roommates. The cost of the room will increase $10 per night per roommate.
6. Is breakfast included in the price of the hotel?
No. Breakfast is not included. Chequers, the restaurant at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town (formerly Radisson), serves a hearty buffet breakfast.
7. What are the hotel’s amenities?
The Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town (formerly Radisson) offers rooms with free WIFI, free Cable TV, in-room movies, coffeemakers, hairdryers, and ironing boards. The hotel also offers guests the convenience of a business center and a fitness room.
8. What are our dining options at the hotel?
The Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town’s restaurant, Chequers, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner where you may dine on fresh seafood, salads and traditional favorites. In addition, the Chequers Lounge (bar) serves light fare throughout the day.
9. Is alcohol served at the hotel?
Yes. Alcoholic beverages will be available during the Travel the Timeline Dinner. The Chequers Lounge serves alcoholic beverages, as well.
10. What is the legal drinking age in Virginia?
The legal drinking age in Virginia is 21 years old.
11. Is smoking permitted in the hotel?
The Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town is a non-smoking hotel. No smoking is allowed in the restaurants or lobby.
12. What transportation options are available at the Radisson Hotel Old Town?
The Crowne Plaza Hotel Old Town offers free shuttle bus service to and from Reagan National Airport and to the historic King Street shopping and dining district. Alexandria offers an award-winning city bus service or you may also request a taxicab through the hotel’s concierge. The same shuttle bus provides transportation to and from the Holiday Inn and Suites Hotel. Please see Travel Guide for details.
13. Is there internet access in the hotel rooms?
Yes, each hotel room has free WIFI service available to hotel guests. Additionally, there is a computer (credit card required) in the hotel’s lobby where hotel guests may access the Iinternet.
14. Is there an ATM in the hotel?
Yes. An ATM machine is available in the hotel lobby.

Individuals with Disabilities
1. What accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities?

2. May I bring special medical equipment or special medication with me?
Yes, please let us know if the equipment or medication requires any special arrangements to be made and we will be glad to help you with that.
3. How easy is it for an individual with a disability to ride the Washington DC Metro Subway system?
The Metro is very accessible to individuals with disabilities. Each station has elevators, extra-wide faregates, and TTY-equipped telephones. Also, public telephones and emergency intercoms are located on every platform. Bumpy domes along the platform at all key stations alert customers that the edge is near, and flashing lights indicate arriving trains. Large, electronic signs on each platform announce train arrivals and delays. Rubber gap reducers decrease the gap between the platform and the train by 1.5 inches, making boarding easier and safer. Door chimes and announcements indicate when the train doors are closing.

The easiest (and most economical) way to get to Washington, DC sites and monuments is Metro. Please see Travel Guide for more info.
7. Is the Washington, DC subway system safe?
The Metro is one of the safest subway systems in the world. Plainclothes and uniformed officers patrol the Metrobuses, Metrorail, Metro stations, and parking lots around the clock. For added security, video cameras monitor the safety of the passengers and 2-way intercoms are on the train platforms, in elevators, and at either end of the train cars.
8. What is the fare to ride the Metro?

1. Will I be able to arrange childcare for younger children?
We don’t have any plans for offering childcare for younger children.

3. Can we bring dolls to the convention?
Since the Travel the Timeline dinner on Saturday night will be a semi-formal event, we discourage dolls at this event.
4. Can I bring a gift for Gerry or his family for the convention organizers to send on my behalf?
No, we cannot accept gifts on behalf of Gerry or his family. Please leave these items at home and send them to the usual fan mail address. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
